Obama will campaign for Harris in battlegrounds as Election Day looms

State of play: Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama at the Democratic National Convention broadcast Harris as the heir to their political movement, Axios' Zachary Basu previously reported.

• Fundraising content and events featuring Obama have raised $76 million in the presidential campaign, Obama's office said.
• Campaign events featuring Obama in New York City and Los Angeles when President Biden was the presumptive nominee broke fundraising records at the time.

What they're saying: Obama's focus, now that early voting has started is on "is on persuading and mobilizing voters, especially in states with key races," Obama's senior adviser Eric Schultz said in a statement.

• "Many of these races are likely to go down to the wire and nothing should be taken for granted."

Flashback: Harris was an early supporter of Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. She was San Francisco's district attorney at the time.

• The pair met 20 years ago on the campaign trail when he was running for Senate.
